We move to Brooklyn and get jobs in Manhattan
November 8th: We moved into our new apartment in Park Slope, a neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. (Which we decided on over the summer.) The move went ok, partly because most of our stuff was already packed up from our year in Israel. This was our fifth move since we married in 2002, and hopefully we won’t move again for at least another year! (But who knows!)
We’re enjoying living in Park Slope — hanging out with friends, frolicking in Prospect Park, and hanging out in Manhattan.
November 14th: Avi started his new job as Lead Technologist for Arc90, a Manhattan-based Internet Consultancy. If you’re wondering what that title means, don’t bother — he made it up. He spends his time creating cutting-edge web-based software for innovative businesses.
In December, Elina had her graduation ceremonies at the University of Maryland, College Park. The big University-wide ceremony was on the 21st in the new basketball stadium — it was very, very, big, and very, very, boring — the high point was getting a glimpse of Elina on the stadium big-screen cube in the ceiling. The next day, her department, Jewish Studies, had a small, intimate, and friendly ceremony in its small, intimate, and friendly building. Elina was asked to speak for the occasion, and she delivered an impressively eloquent and touching address.
February 1st: Elina turned 24!
February 11th: Our close friends Michael and Rivka Bresler had a baby boy! The following Friday we drove down to Baltimore for the Shalom Zachor Shabbat and the Bris, only to have it postponed to the following Sunday! No problem, back to New York for a couple of days, then down to Baltimore again for the bris on the 26th — this time it worked out fine. His name is Yonatan Tuvia — Yoni. Cute kid, fun bris!
February 23rd: Elina started her first full-time job, at the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Lower Manhattan. As Public Programs Coordinator, she and her coworkers plan and execute innovative and diverse programs at the museum. She likes it.
March 18th: Avi turned 28!
March 19th: We joined Elina’s family in celebrating her paternal Grandparents’ Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary! We had a party at the Manhattan restaurant Levana - it was a very special occasion!
